We are very pleased to announce that we are involved with our alternative powertrain team in the modification and development of a hydrogen-powered, high-performance 2 litre turbo engine with AVL RACETECH. The use of hydrogen as an energy source is a possible way to reach our green goals faster. When examining the "green potential" of an energy source, it is also worth looking at the production, storage and use of the energy in the perspective of its environmental impact.
When examining the "green potential" of an energy source, it is also worth looking at the production, storage and use of the energy in the perspective of its environmental impact. Our hydrogen engine development project not only deals with two of these issues indirectly, but also specifically deals with both the storage and use of the new energy source.
Nowadays, when hydrogen powertrain is discussed in the context of road transport, fuel cells are most often mentioned, but they are not exclusive to all types of vehicles, production environments or applications (e.g. high performance vehicles, racing vehicles). Our project also aims to investigate, design and test less exploited uses of hydrogen by burning hydrogen in internal combustion engines.
Fontos hidrogénüzemű mérföldkő
The project has reached a major milestone, as it has achieved a performance in the engine dynamometer tests that confirmed the peak values calculated earlier in the simulations, reaching 301 kW (150 kW/l).
This is the first milestone of a long running project, development and testing continues!
